Great Steamboat Race details announced

The Great Steamboat Race is set for April 28th, and the latest changes to the competition were announced this morning.

The race will be between the Belle of Louisville and the Belle of Cincinnati.  With the Delta Queen retired from the race, the boat crews will compete for silver antlers.  Those replace the former golden antlers.

"This event was first held in 1963 and with the retirement of the Delta Queen, this historic event last year took on a new life," said Mike Berry, CEO of the Kentucky Derby Festival.

The boat race includes several other kinds of competition.  The crews run an obstacle course and have a tug of war before the race.  During the race they have to retrieve a VIP passenger from the shore and a buoy flag from the river.
