LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- We're still weeks from the Kentucky Derby, but another Louisville racing tradition ran today at Spalding University -- the annual Run for the Rodents!
Our very own Barry Bernson helped to emcee the races. The trained rodents take off around the Spalding Downs, all hoping to win the garland of fruit-flavored cereal-o's.
The winner this year, named Burrhus, has a bit of a sweet tooth. Lacy Ford, the winning rat trainer, explains, "We used sweet tea as a re-enforcer for running around the track."
This was the 38th annual Running of the Rodents.
