Louisville native Chris Burke may call it career. He was the first overall pick by the Houston Astros in 2001 but never consistently stayed in the majors. After some time with the Arizona Diamondbacks and brief stints with the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, Burke signed a minor league contract with Cincinnati. That allowed him to play in his hometown---until the Bats got Gary Matthews Junior---and that ended Burke's time with Louisville.
Burke is now considering retirement.
