BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A northern Kentucky man has been hospitalized after an all-night standoff with police that ended with no shots fired and no injuries.
Boone County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tom Scheben says 32-year-old Brian Heath of Burlington surrendered at 6 a.m. EDT Sunday after holding officers at bay for more than 10 hours.
Scheben says sheriff's deputies went to Heath's home after receiving a call that he had barricaded himself in his house with a loaded rifle following an argument with a woman.
Scheben says the woman fled the home and called 911. A negotiator spoke to Heath at length to no avail. At 9:10 p.m. the sheriff swat team arrived as the standoff took shape.
After surrendering, Heath was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence for evaluation. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
