Social media helping decide the future of HR

Social media sites are not just for socializing anymore.

A group of more than 50 human resource professionals from across the U.S. were in Louisville Saturday for the first "un-conference."

The un-conference was thought up because many companies are not paying for HR conferences anymore.

The sessions focused on using social media like Twitter and Facebook, as well as deciding the future of human resources.

"We're more than payroll. We're more than just benefits. We're really there to drive the business strategy as well. And so I think this is a way we can be leaders in our companies and bringing new tools and technologies to the companies," said Trisha McFarlane, HR Regional Director Fleishman-Hillard.

The un-conference was started four months ago by a "tweet" to five bloggers.

It has now grown into the HRevolution.

Extra funds from this weekend's un-conference will be donated to the Junior Achievement of Louisville.
