Paula thanks Simon for teaching her to be strong

She's been anything but predictable over the last eight years, judging hundreds of contestants on American Idol.  And that's what's made Paula Abdul one to watch.

Her quirky personality and always encouraging opinions on the hit show sometimes have viewers asking, "What did she just say?"

And even though her on-camera relationship with Simon Cowell seems like a bad marriage, she thanks the Brit for helping her understand who she is: "Simon, I am really grateful for and I say that with full authority. I know exactly who I am now and I don't have to make any excuses for it.  He's taught me to be strong, stick to what I believe in, and as much as there are Simons in this world, you need the balance of Paulas in this world too, you know, ying and yang."

Abdul has been in showbiz for twenty years and has a new album coming out in a few weeks.
