Three families sue zoo train's manufacturer

Three families from Louisville and Jeffersonville, Indiana are suing the manufacturer and the operator of the Louisville Zoo train that derailed June first.

Christopher Lankford, Hila Mckenzie, and Cheri Mckenzie seek damages from Chance Rides Manufacturing of Wichita, Kansas and from the ride operator, who was a zoo employee at the time of the crash.

The families allege negligence on the part of both parties.  Those injured included several children.

The suit was assigned to a judge late Wednesday afternoon.  It does not name the Louisville Zoo or the city as a defendent.

This is at least the third civil suit filed in the aftermath of the train accident.
