Guest Editorial - Anthem (7/6/09)

Norton Healthcare cancelled its contract with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield last Tuesday at midnight, becoming the only health system in Kentucky to not have a contract with Anthem.

Even without Norton, Anthem still has the largest network of hospitals, and physicians in Kentucky.  In Louisville, Jewish Hospital, Baptist East, and University Hospital offer excellent options for you, and they are all members of our Anthem network.

I want to reassure you that your family will still have affordable access to Kosair Children's Hospital.  Because some pediatric hospital services may not be available elsewhere in the area, Anthem is going to take parents and children out of the middle of this dispute by paying Anthem members at the in-network rate and at the rate Norton has requested in their proposal to us for services performed at Kosair. It's the right thing to do for your family.

Over the last several weeks, we've received a clear message from you that you want continued affordable access to Kosair.  We heard you, and we hope this will ease your concerns.

You have my pledge that Anthem will continue to work to keep health care affordable for your family.

I'm Deb Moessner, and that's my...Point of View.
