A Labor Cabinet ruling says Metro Louisville should quit collecting fees for police officers' take-home cars.  The ruling says Mayor Jerry Abramson and the police department violated collective bargaining laws.

The city maintained that the cars weren't covered under officers' contracts.  But Labor Cabinet Secretary J.R. Gray Tuesday afternoon upheld an earlier ruling against Metro Louisville.

The city says it will quit collecting the fees.  The city and the police officers' union will have to negotiate whether fees already collected are returned.
