New security measures for Indiana BMV

New security measures will start next year for motorists who renew their Indiana driver's licenses or get new ones.

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles says drivers will have to prove their identity as a one-time requirement in an effort to stem identity theft.  Documents that can be used include birth certificates, passports, Social Security cards, W-2 forms and bank and utility statements.

The announcement of increased security comes about a month after a man tried to obtain several fake ID's.  But Indiana's new facial recognition system prevented him from doing that.
