Ice cream social serves up history lesson

An old-fashioned ice cream social Sunday afternoon also served as a history lesson.  Hundreds of people enjoyed ice cream, games, train rides, and an archaeological dig along the Ohio River in southwest Louisville.

Some toured the historic Farnsley-Moremen house.  Not too far away, you could see an old chapel that was physically moved to its current Riverside location.

"We got 350 acres here.  We just moved the Farnsley-Moremen chapel, which is the original chapel for this landing here, back in the early 1800s.  We've just got some money for the budget that we're going to make this here, where we can have the weddings at the chapel," said Bob Henderson, (D) Metro Council District 14.

Councilman Henderson says he hopes the chapel will make enough money to pay for its upkeep and operations.
