The woman charged with trying to extort millions of dollars from U of L basketball coach Rick Pitino was back in court Friday.

Karen Sypher told a judge she can't afford an attorney, so she was appointed a public defender.  She parted ways with attorney Thomas Clay last month.  Prosecutors say she demanded money from Pitino after the two had an encounter several years ago.

Pitino went to the FBI to report he was being extorted after someone left voicemail messages for him, saying he would go to the media with several allegations against the coach.

Fox 41 is not reporting those allegations, because we can not verify them.  A judge has still not set a trial date for Sypher.
