The Idea Festival - A Great Idea (9/22/09)
Louisville is rightly proud of the fact that many important organizations and events call the city home. But when it comes to something that's truly unique, there's not much that can top the Idea Festival - which takes place at various downtown locations this Wednesday through Saturday.
Most conferences and conventions focus on a single subject. But the Idea Festival is restricted only by the imagination of its participants. Dozens of the top minds in every field will be here, with the simple yet ambitious goal of stretching our horizons and promoting breakthrough thinking in every area of life. And when an event has featured such a diverse list of past participants as Beatles producer Sir George Martin, Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, you know it's serious about its mission.
This is the kind of event that gives real credibility to Louisville's claim to the title, "Possibility City." And it deserves our support.
Certainly everyone won't be able to attend everything. But tickets for each session vary in price - including no charge at all-and special deals are available for students. So I encourage you to visit www.IdeaFestival.com and make plans now to check out whatever interests you.
Opportunities like this don't come along every day. Don't let it pass you by.
