Hello, my name is Dave Calzi, and I am the Volunteer Campaign Chair of this year's Metro United Way fundraising campaign.
This is by far the toughest year we've ever experienced. The need is way up, and the number of people who have the capacity to give is way down. We are facing a potential shortfall of more than one million dollars, and that will have a huge impact on services.
The level of need for those services is urgent. We're talking about basic needs like food and shelter. We've experienced a 40% increase in requests for help – many from people who have never had to ask for help before.
We need everyone who can make a donation to go to metrounitedway.org. Even the smallest amounts make a difference.
Another way you can help is by attending the Metro United Way Community Pep Rally December 1st, at 7:45 in the morning. E.ON U.S. has generously offered to donate $10 per person for everyone who attends the event at the Salvation Army Male Campus. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
We are so thankful for all the support we've received so far. People are making an extraordinary effort to help their neighbors by giving to the Metro United Way Campaign. Please join us so the most vulnerable people in our community receive help. Go to Metrounitedway.org and give.
I'm Dave Calzi, and that's my…Point of View.
