An Owen County man fell to his death on Saturday while rock climbing at Red River Gorge, according to the Associated Press.
28-year-old Shaun Wilhoite was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was released to the Lexington Herald Leader by Menifee County Coroner Melody Smallwood.
Smallwood said Wilhoite was climbing with about a dozen friends when he fell approximately 50 feet to his death. There was snow and ice on the ground, but Smallwood said it wasn't clear if that was a factor in the accident.
