Shannon White is a Louisville-based entrepreneur. In 2006, she founded Shine Consulting. For the past three years, she has served as the finance director for John Yarmuth and, according to her official bio, has helped raise more than $2.5 million for Yarmuth's re-election efforts. She has also served as the 2006-2007 president of The Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL).
In her platform, she emphasizes her view that the new mayor must provide Louisville with a "fresh start."
"We deserve a mayor that expects and delivers the kind of transparency across all areas of government," she states. "As executive director of Dress for Success Louisville, we applied for External Agency Funding through Metro Government. The application process included accounting for every penny we spent. We need the same type of accountability across all metro government spending."
White told Fox 41's Bennett Haeberle that a significant part of her platform would involve eliminating the bureaucracy involved in running a business in Louisville.
"When I started doing research on development in our community, I was shocked to find out how much red tape was involved," White said. "Let's cut through the red tape. Instead of Asiatique having to submit their paint colors four times, or having developers having to build their own sewer treatment facilities, let's be more pro-business and get these new developments and efficient developments up and running so we can get people back to work."
