Caterpillar to add eighteen jobs in Danville, Kentucky

Caterpillar Track Components is making a $2.8 million investment at its Boyle County facility that will allow it to hold on to its current workers and add about eighteen jobs.

The plant makes pins and bushings for tractors and hydraulic excavators, along with hinge pins for wheel loaders.

"Caterpillar's multi-million dollar investment project demonstrates Kentucky's focus on helping its existing industries and our ability to support job retention and growth opportunities," said Gov. Steve Beshear in a press release. "The preservation of existing jobs and creation of 18 new jobs at the Danville Caterpillar plant will provide continued security for dozens of families in the community."

Caterpillar is moving an existing product line from its Franklin, N.C. facility to the Danville plant.  "We are pleased to be increasing operations at our Danville facility. The expansion of the facility supports the Core Components Division's strategy by enabling us to best serve our customers," said David Bozeman, Caterpillar vice president with responsibility for the Core Components Division. "We appreciate the continued support of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Boyle County and are proud to be a part of the Danville community."

Kentucky tax incentives of half a million dollars aided the expansion.
