Maker's Mark Calipari bottle

Posted:

Since 1997, Maker's Mark has released a charity bottle of bourbon to coincide with the spring meet at Keeneland and the running of the Maker's Mark Mile.  The 2010 bottle is solid blue with blue wax and features a likeness of UK basketball coach John Calipari.  Maker's Mark owner Bill Samuels shows the bottles and talks about the series.

This year's bottle doesn't hit stores and the public until Friday, April 2. They always sell out, so this year, they've produced a record 24,000 bottles. They will retail for $49.

Proceeds received from the sale of the bottles will go towards UK's Fine Arts Outreach program -- a program which sends University of Kentucky music school graduates out to rural Kentucky communities (where music has been eliminated from schools' curriculum) to inspire 3rd and 4th grade students to become musicians.

With Coach Calipari's time constraints and popularity, Keeneland has made special arrangements for the annual trackside bottle signing, April 9, at 8 AM, the morning of the Grade -1 Maker's Mark Mile.  This year tickets will be offered to the first 1,200 through Ticketmaster on Saturday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. Go to www.keeneland.com  for more details. Ticket bearers will have a secure place in line and be guaranteed to get one of this year's edition bottle signed.
