Sypher attorney wants to delay extortion trial

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Fox 41 News) -- The lawyer for the woman accused of trying to extort $10 million from University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino wants to delay her trial.

Early indications are that the prosecution is not going to fight it.

Karen Sypher's lawyer is asking for at least a month's delay in her federal trial.

Defense attorney James Earhart says he needs more time to review evidence provided by prosecutors.

Sypher is also charged with lying to the FBI.

The trial is scheduled to start June 1, but her attorney is asking that it start no sooner than July 1. The defense is also asking to move the trial out of Louisville.
