I often offer Darts and Laurels to people and organizations I think deserve some extra attention – either positive or negative.

But today, I just want to offer one unqualified Laurel to Kosair Children's Hospital and Norton Healthcare on the opening of their new Kosair Children's Medical Center – Brownsboro in eastern Jefferson County next Wednesday.

The original Kosair Children's Hospital has long been a precious asset as this community's only health care facility dedicated exclusively to the unique needs of children. And now, this new outpatient medical center will allow Kosair Children's to extend the reach of the hospital's original mission to more children and families than ever before.

It's no secret Norton Healthcare is a strong partner with WDRB in making the real-time closed–captioning on all our newscasts possible, so I won't pretend this isn't a pat on the back to a special friend. But considering the thousands of kids and parents all across this entire region who will benefit from this new facility, I think it's more than well-deserved. And I applaud Kosair Children's and Norton for making such a constructive investment in our community.

I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my…Point of View.
