Conway fights LG&E rate increase
Frankfort, KY (WDRB-TV, Fox 41) --Kentucky's Attorney General wants to stop Louisville Gas & Electric from raising your rates. Attorney General Jack Conway filed a motion Wednesday asking the Public Service Commission to dismiss the rate increase case.
Conway calls it the largest combined rate increase in Kentucky history.
LG&E and Kentucky Utilities are asking for $250 million in rate increases from the Public Service Commission.
The companies are requesting the increase to recoup investments in the Trimble County Power Plant and costs incurred by the ice and windstorms in Kentucky. But Conway says the increases are inflated, and the timing is inappropriate because the power companies are in the process of being sold.
