LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A lot of money was raised this weekend for homeless animals, nearly $10,000. It's from what the Animal Care Society calls a "ginormous" yard sale.

Thousands of bargain items were up for sale to benefit the no-kill shelter on Westport Road. The sale started Friday and wrapped up Sunday.

All the money raised will help care for dozens of adoptable cats and dogs. The Animal Care Society is a non-profit that depends on fundraiser's like a yard sale.

"We don't euthanize so if we bring an animal in and it does have a condition we do spend the money which is what this is helping today," said Bunny Zeller, Animal Care Society.

Shelter officials say the $10,000 was raised over the last three days.
