Men more affected by relationships

A new study finds men may be even more deeply affected by relationships than women. Researchers at Wake Forest and Florida State studied more than 1,600 men and women between the ages of 18 and 23.

They discovered the men, often portrayed as insensitive "players" were actually more vulnerable to the emotional ups and downs of their romantic relationships than the women.

Researchers say the ongoing study could help debunk the belief that men only want sex out of relationships.

Scientists noted, the study also showed women were more likely than men to experience depression when a relationship ended and benefited more from being part of a couple.

The findings are published in the June issue of The Journal of Health and Social Behavior.
