Susan Lukjan sentenced to 12 years

Posted:

A Louisville woman convicted of burning down her own business will spend twelve years behind bars.

In May, Susan Lukjan was convicted of arson and insurance fraud for setting fire to Campbell's Gourmet Cottage near Trinity High School in 2006.

Prosecutors said Lukjan started the fire because the business was failing, and she needed the insurance money.

The jury recommended Lukjan serve twelve years behind bars, but the judge made the final decision.

Lukjan's attorney, Tom Clay, said he would file an appeal and would try to get Lukjan released on an appeals bond.
