Last Saturday was Fox 41's eighth annual Thunder Into Louisville poker run. More than 600 riders turned out to have some fun and raise money for the Boy Scouts.
Thanks to everyone who rode in the event. What a turnout! The highlight for me was meeting and speaking with dozens and dozens of people who watch Fox 41 news. Many gave me excellent ideas for future Point of View topics.
Thanks to our new partners, the Lincoln Heritage Council Boy Scouts who provided many of the volunteers we needed for this event to run smoothly. By they way, they set a goal for how much money they hoped to raise and I'm thrilled to report they exceeded that goal by 30%. That speaks wonders for the generosity of the riders who turned out in these challenging economic times.
If you rode on Saturday, we'd like to know what we did right that we should keep doing and what we can do to improve the event next year. Please go to our web site, click on Point of View and let us know.
Finally, thank you to the Jefferson County and Oldham County volunteer sheriffs who escorted us throughout our ride. These sheriffs volunteered their time on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to help keep the riders safe and we really appreciated their service. As a community we are very fortunate to have them.
I'm Bill Lamb…and that's my point of view.
