MADISON, Ind. (AP) -- The installation of a new cupola atop a southern Indiana courthouse damaged last year by a fire may be delayed because officials say it just doesn't look right.

The Jefferson County Courthouse's new cupola was expected to be delivered in late October. But county attorney Wil Goering told the city of Madison's Historic Board on Monday night that the aluminum replacement cupola is "definitely not what we want."

Architectural historian Link Ludington told The Madison Courier that the new cupola is more colonial than the original one. Project manager Rob Creviston said the cupola's maker is aware of the concerns.

A May 2009 fire destroyed the 1855 courthouse's gold-domed bell and clock tower. The new cupola will sit atop the rebuilt dome in the Ohio River city.
