Hello. I'm Joe Tolan, President and CEO of your Metro United Way and this year we're asking our supporters to give 110%.
What does that mean? We're asking folks to think about how much they plan to give this year, then add 10% to that amount.
That's a bold ask, I know, but times like these call for the boldest actions.
Human needs in our community have risen by well over 10%. With the current unemployment rate and major cuts in human services funding many in our community are hurting - more than at any time in memory.
More of our friends and neighbors are in need than ever, and the fastest growing group? People seeking assistance for the very first time.
This year we are committed to raising more to respond to that increased demand. Our goal? To get 110% support throughout the community from those who have the capacity to do that.
Metro United Way works hard to stretch your dollars as far as they can go. Together, we can impact more people than ever and maximize our response to our community's needs now, while reducing the needs of tomorrow. How? By addressing the root causes of key issues and problems, especially in the areas of education, income and health.
Why give 110%? If you give more, we can do more. Together, we can create a bigger, more positive impact on our community – now and in the future.
I'm Joe Tolan, and that's my…Point of View.
