Keeping pets safe on Halloween

Halloween Pet Safety Tips and Costumes:

· Halloween can be a frighteningly good time for children and adults, but it can also be petrifying for your pets. Companion animals aren't used to the doorbell-ringing, costumed creatures and the general hustle-and-bustle that come into our homes this day of the year.

· Be careful to watch your pet when you are opening the door frequently so they do not escape. Micro-chipping is a great safeguard for losing your pet in case they do escape and lose their collar.

· Watch where you place your Halloween treats, as some (like chocolate) can be toxic to animals.

· Remember your pets' comfort when considering putting them in a costume.

· If you want to take your pet trick-or-treating this year, join KHS at Westport Village October, 29 from 6:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. for doggie trick-or-treating, a dog costume contest, and photos.
