Benefit raises money for murder victim

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- The parents of a once missing Sullivan University student say they're grateful for the community support following their son's murder.

The father of Andrew Compton says he wishes his son, Andrew, was still here.

"It means a lot to us to have this support in the Louisville community and all the people who have been involved in putting this together. When you get a condolence card or a sympathy card, multiple it by 1,000 that's the significant of this to us," said John Compton, Andrew's father.

A benefit concert held Saturday night at Uncle Pleasant's on Preston Street helped raise money for the Andrew Compton Memorial Fund, which will help pay for funeral costs. The fund is set up through PNC bank.

His father says Andrew Compton wanted to be a chef and loved music.

He was last seen Oct. 28th leaving his Sullivan University dorm.

40-year-old Gregory O'Byran has been charged with Compton's murder. O'Byran initially lied to investigators but later told police Compton died during sex and that he disposed of the body in a dumpster.

Sources tell Fox 41 News that Compton's body might have been concealed in a 32 inch television box. Investigators spent nine days searching of an Indiana landfill but could not find Compton's body.
