Step-mother of missing DeBlase kids arrested in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- Last week, Louisville became a focus for authorities who are investigating a case in Alabama.

Police are still searching for two missing Alabama children: five-year-old Natalie DeBlase and three-year-old Jonathan DeBlase. Their father, John Deblase, was arrested in Florida and charged with child abuse and two counts of abuse of a corpse.

He now says the kids are dead and buried.

The children's step-mother, Heather Keaton, was arrested here in Louisville last week.

She was charged with abusing the two children.

"Unfortunately, I don't know who killed these children," said Richard Deblase, the children's grandfather. "It may be him. It may be Heather, or whatever. I don't know. But as an adult, you've got to take responsibility for your actions -- and they'll have to go to jail for those."

The children have been missing since the summer.

The Mobile Police Chief says Deblase told officials that the children are buried within a 100 mile radius of Mobile.

So far, investigators have not found the bodies after searching in Mobile County and a wooded area near Vancleave, Miss.

That's about 55 miles west of Mobile.
