LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB Fox 41) -- Before he leaves office, Louisville's so-called Mayor for Life is being praised on Capitol Hill.

Kentucky 3rd District Representative John Yarmuth stated on the floor of the House Tuesday, "To Mayor Abramson and his devoted staff, I join all of Metro Louisville in thanking you for your service. The measure of your work and sacrifice has left Louisville as a better place than when you found it.  I'm grateful your service is not yet done for our nation."

Congressman Yarmuth named some of the mayor's accomplishments during his more than twenty years of service to the city, including bringing jobs to the city through GE, Ford, and Humana and projects like the thriving downtown, Waterfront Park, and the entire parks system.

Abramson is now making a run for lieutenant governor of Kentucky.
