'Mother Hen' Harrellson ruling roost for Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky's Josh Harrellson can thank Twitter for his improved play.

The senior had his Twitter privileges revoked by John Calipari after venting that his coach failed to compliment him for a solid rebounding effort during a preseason scrimmage.

Calipari also ordered Harrellson to endure some extra conditioning drills, which have put him in the best shape of his life. He is flourishing, averaging 5.3 points and 9.3 rebounds, second-best in the Southeastern Conference.

He's earned praise from opposing coaches. Boston University coach Patrick Chambers called him Kentucky's "mother hen," saying Harrellson's experience and basketball IQ have helped the team's young players grow up quickly.

The No. 13 Wildcats (8-2) host Winthrop (5-6) on Wednesday.
