Police accuse man of shootings over 'C & G' gang

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A Louisville man was arrested late Tuesday night after police say he shot two others after questioning them about gang membership.

According to an arrest report, 19-year-old Jescell Whittle approached three people as they were walking on Broadway near Cecil Ave. Then he allegedly confronted them, asking them if they were members of the "C & G" (aka, Cecil and Greenwood) gang.

Police say the three people said they were not and began to walk away.

At this point, police say Whittle followed the trio to Broadway and 41st St. and began firing a pistol at them. According to the arrest report, one person was struck twice while a second was shot one time. The third was unharmed.

Police say Whittle has been charged with two counts of assault 1st and one count of wanton endangerment 1st.

There is no immediate information on the conditions of the two wounded victims.
