Perspective parents get help at local adoption fair

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- An adoption fair shows potential adoptive parents that the process doesn't have to be costly.

Nine agencies from across the region were at the 2011 Adoption Fair at Saint Francis High School Sunday afternoon.

Those interested learned how to adopt infants or older children, from the U.S. or internationally.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and other agencies sponsored the free event.

"This is a great place to start if you are thinking about adoption or are interested in how you can become involved in the humanitarian mission of helping children in need," said Lydia Fusco, All Blessings International.

Fusco added, "Many families are trying to consider whether international adoption or domestic adoption is most appropriate for their family situation and they're considering which programs best meet the need for their family."

There are more than 6,800 children in foster care.
