LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A local ambulance service is under investigation for Medicare and Medicaid fraud.
In March, the FBI executed a search warrant at the Rural Metro Ambulance Service office located on Gilmore Industrial Lane. On Friday, the federal government added new claims to a civil suit against the company.
The complaint: Rural Metro billed Medicaid and Medicare for services it did not provide, going back to 2003. The suit says the company lied about whether dialysis patients were confined to their beds, or that they needed an ambulance when it wasn't medically necessary.
The lawsuit covers claims submitted from Kentucky and several other states.
