Salem woman accused of throwing dog from car
CORYDON, Ind. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A Salem, IN woman faces an animal cruelty charge for allegedly throwing her family's dog from a moving car.
Harrison County prosecutors charged 56-year-old Maximina Sue Shelton of Salem with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.
A police report says a witness reported seeing a dog pushed from the rear window of a sedan along Indiana 135 near New Salisbury March 18th. The driver then turned around and attempted to run over the injured dog, which limped into a field.
The 1 1/2-year-old female cocker spaniel is recuperating at a Louisville veterinary hospital.
Court records said Shelton's husband was also in the car.
