LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41)-- High winds caused problems for Kentucky fire crews battling a forest fire. Authorities in Nelson County, say between five to six acres of forest were burning Sunday afternoon.

Forestry officials were very concerned because of the high winds and low humidity. The division of forestry issued a red alert.

The fire started near the Bernheim Forest. Crews were called out to dig a fire trench to prevent the flames from spreading.

There is no threat to nearby homes. No word on what caused the fire.
