Ceremony held for Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41)-- Candlelight and music helped people in Louisville share their feelings of hope for the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

The Unity of Louisville's memorial and benefit concert featured a candle lighting ceremony and silent reflection.

The crowd reflected on the damage and destruction and prayed for those affected. The event sponsor says it's times like these when people join together.

"On a day like this, the people of all different religions in our city, leave behind the religious identity and stand behind together in one spirituality that offers shared grief with our brothers and sisters in japan, but also speaks to them messages of hope and deliverance of what has happened," said Terry Tylor, Interfaiths Path to Peace.

Some of the sponsor's of Saturday's event include the Crane House, The Asia Institute and the greater Louisville Regional Japanese Saturday School.

All money and proceeds will go to the victims.
