Meeting will help determine if dozens of NA-FC teachers, staff keep jobs

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A meeting today will help decide whether dozens of teachers and staff at New Albany - Floyd County Schools will keep their jobs.

The district's Education Association will sit down with school officials this afternoon to discuss ways to keep more than half of 70 jobs that it threatened to cut.

Last month, the school board voted to cut all art, music and P.E. teachers at elementary schools. Notices have already been sent to those affected.

Superintendent Bruce Hibbard has offered to freeze raises and have faculty pay more for insurance to help save more than 40 jobs.
