LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB Fox 41) -- It was a big step forward Friday in helping people with autism and their families, as the new University of Louisville Autism Center was dedicated.

The 12,000 square foot facility is on the Kosair Charities Campus in the Highlands.  The center will offer programs such as behavior management, counseling, and speech therapy.

Friday morning's dedication is in the middle of Autism Awareness Month.  School officials say the center will bring together multiple programs.

U of L President Dr. James Ramsey explains, "Now we have the space to bring everyone together.  It really is, it's been renovated to be world class space to create a world class program here in Louisville."

Kosair Charities is donating the rent money for the center.
