Parole hearing postponed for woman in 5 slayings

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky Parole Board has postponed a hearing for a woman convicted of killing five people in Lexington in the 1980s.

The full parole board opted to delay the hearing for 52-year-old Tina Marie Hickey Powell from Monday until April 25 because enough board members wouldn't be available to hold the hearing, The Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

Powell, 52, made her first appearance before the Kentucky Parole Board on Wednesday. A two-member panel bound the case over to the full parole board, which must consider any deferment of parole of longer than 60 months.

Powell and 47-year-old LaFonda Fay Foster were convicted in 1987 of five counts of murder in the deaths. All five were stabbed and shot on April 23, 1986.
