Judge allows defense attorney access to video

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -- A northwest Indiana judge has granted the defense attorney for a 17-year-old girl accused of handcuffing a 17-year-old boy at knifepoint and sexually assaulting him access to a DVD of cellphone videos from the alleged incident.

Porter Superior Judge Bill Alexa in Valparaiso on Friday granted Bob Harper's request for a copy of the DVD.

The Times of Munster reports Alexa limited the video release only to Harper and his videographer, saying the footage is "potentially humiliating" to the alleged victim, a special needs student.

The girl has been charged as an adult with several felonies. A 15-year-old girl who admitted to her role in the crime was sentenced earlier this month to an undetermined amount of time in the state Department of Correction's girls school.
