"The U of L Police Department is investigating a threat involving a student planning to bring a gun to class," a status update on the page stated. "If you see anything suspicious call DPS 852-6111."  U of L also sent out a text alert.  Asst. U of L Police Chief Kenny Brown suggested that students and staff go about their business as normal.

Around 2 a.m. campus police got a tip from the LMPD tipline about possible gun violence on campus.

The threat did not name a specific person or building, but only gave the Belknap campus address and today's date.

Several fans of the page posted their reaction to the threat.

"I hope they cancel classes," wrote Zach Kraft. "And I hope he or she's not sitting in my class right now."

"There's cop cars all around campus," he added. "I don't really feel safe on campus cuz it seems like they don't know much."

"I would like to have some more information before I leave for class," wrote Stephanie Craig.

"Don't miss class, unless you hear otherwise," wrote an administrator of the page.
