Retired Ky. Marine receives Medal of Honor

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A retired Marine from Kentucky will become the third living recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Corporal Dakota Meyer ran into a dangerous area to recover the bodies of four fallen comrades while coming under intense enemy fire in Afghanistan. It happened in 2009 -- and Meyer says the sudden attention is making him relive the experience.

"I'm willing to do that for the sole fact that if I can talk about my guys, and talk about the heroes that they are to me, then it's worth it," Meyer said. "It's not even about the award. I'm not sitting here talking to you about an award and anything like that, I'm talking about those guys."

Corporal Meyer is from Greensburg, Kentucky. He is the first living Marine in 41 years to receive the nation's highest award for valor.
