Woman sent to jail for disorderly conduct is released

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The last time she was in court, a judge sent her to jail for acting up. But this morning, Sapphire Doss changed her tune.

"I'm going to release you on this charge today, OK? Good luck to you," the judge said.

"Yes, sir," Doss replied.

Doss was "incredibly" polite when she pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. Judge Katie King charged Doss with contempt of court Monday when she started giggling in the courtroom, then refused to follow the judge's order to leave.

"I said you all need to step outside," an angry King said Monday. "Your girlfriend went on and stepped outside, all I did was ask you to step outside because you guys were laughing and giggling back there. Do I come to wherever you work -- where do you work? -- OK I don't come in there and make loud noises and laugh and act goofy and silly."

Doss spent the last three days in jail, but the judge ordered her immediate release after Thursday morning's hearing.
