JCPS hires plenty of rookie teachers for failing schools

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools is relying heavily on rookie teachers to overhaul failing schools.

More than 40 percent of teachers hired at seven underperforming schools have no experience. That's according to the Courier-Journal.

The move raises questions about whether inexperienced teachers can raise test scores. But the district's human resources director says it shouldn't be an issue because the new teachers actually want to be in those schools.

The underperforming schools are Doss, Fairdale, Iroquois, Seneca, Southern, and Waggener high schools and Knight Middle School.
