CSX announces new $15 million rail terminal

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- CSX announced Monday that it will build a $15 million rail terminal in Louisville, between the Osborne Yard and the Louisville Industrial Center.

The terminal is expected to begin operations early next year, and employ about a dozen people.  It will connect freight trains to the nationwide CSX rail network.

The terminal project will include installing new track, pavement, and drainage along with gates for freight containers and refurbishing two buildings as office facilities.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, in a press release, said the investment is welcome news for the local economy: "It is a statement of confidence in the region's economy by a private sector
company, it will create jobs, and it will further strengthen the region's transportation
infrastructure, providing businesses access to more efficient, cost-effective transportation."
