Police: Man shot and killed by wife, no charges filed

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)--Police say they know who shot and killed a man Friday night, but that person hasn't been arrested, and no charges have been filed.

It is a domestic violence case, and at this time, police do not plan to file charges, but they do tell us the woman had taken out an emergency protective order against her husband.

The shooting happened on Rowan street in the Portland neighborhood Friday night.

Nothing seemed unusual or out of place except a desk chair thrown into the yard. Dogs at the house continued to bark, and neighbors were eager to talk, too. "She was a very rude person, very rude," said Theresa Crum.

Police say the couple living at the house had a fight Friday night and the wife shot her husband, 57 year old Eugene Henderson around 11 at night. He died hours later at the hospital. is wife hasn't been arrested or charged.

Police say she had an active domestic violence order against her husband. Her neighbors are not too fond of her, and say she constantly fought with her husband. "She fights and argues with her son, she fought and argued with her dogs, she fights with herself," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.

"She was out here yesterday staggering and stumbling around like she was on pills or something, she just wasn't herself," said Crum.

Police could not confirm whether the woman was under the influence Friday.

No one can really know what exactly went on inside the house on Friday night, but the whole incident has neighbors on edge. "Sometimes it makes you just stop and think," said Crum.

WDRB was unable to get ahold of the wife. Police are not releasing her name.

Funeral arrangements are in the works for Eugene Henderson.
