Police say Louisville man had been living in trunk at Office Depot

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a man was arrested Saturday night after a bizarre incident that took place in the parking lot of a Louisville Office Depot.

According to an arrest report, police saw 43-year-old George Auge Jr. in the rear parking lot of the store, trying to lock himself in the trunk of his car. Auge later allegedly told police that he had been sleeping there for the past two days.

Police say Auge then ran to his father's house down the street, where he was arrested. He appeared to be intoxicated, according to the arrest report. His father told police he could not stay at his home.

Police say they asked Auge several times where he wanted to go, but to no avail.

"He couldn't provide us with a safe location, and was not using good judgment by sleeping in his trunk due to the extreme heat -- and the possibility of locking himself inside," police say.

Auge eventually told them that he'd been living on Bay Lee Street.

Police eventually arrested shortly before 9 p.m. and charged him with alcohol intoxication in a public place and failure to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change.
