Lynyrd Skynyrd cancels on Ft. Knox concert; new concert free

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  (WDRB) --  Lynyrd Skynyrd has dropped out of its appearance at a concert at Godman Army Airfield on Fort Knox, Ky., Saturday.

Instead, the group Kansas will take its place, and the previously-scheduled Doobie Brothers will take over the headliner spot, Ft. Knox announced Wednesday.  Dilana will remain the opening act.

In addition, ticket holders are due refunds through Ft. Knox offices or Ticketmaster.  The post decided to make the concert a "free" show because of the last-minute changes.

The concert is open to Ft. Knox personnel and their families -- and the general public.

A post press release said the change comes because of "the medical condition of (Lynyrd Skynyrd's) lead singer, Johnny Van Zant."

"Those who purchased tickets through Fort Knox's Information, Ticketing and Registration Office, or ITR, will receive a cash refund as they enter through the concert's general admission gate.  ITR ticket holders must bring their ticket in order to receive a refund.  ITR ticket holders no longer wishing to attend the concert may obtain a refund by visiting the ITR office beginning Aug. 15," the post news release said.

Individuals seeking a refund who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster should contact Ticketmaster at 1-800-653-8000.
